The Art of Living a Flirtatious Life, By Christine Hart
As a member of the YourDateCoach team and having the privilege to read the first few drafts of this book, I can say that I am truly inspired by what this book has to offer. In The Art of Living a Flirtatious Life, Christine shares with us the beauty of being a woman, connecting with our femininity and living an empowering flirty life – one where we can have it all.
No, this doesn’t necessarily mean you are seeking to become a stiletto-wearing-fake-lashes type of woman – (though that can be fun once and awhile). It means any type of woman at any stage of life can appreciate the lessons of “flirting with life” and staying connected with their femininity.
We can’t deny that we are living in a masculine world and especially in the workforce, many of us are taught that in order to get ahead, you’ve got to act more like a man. There is this constant internal battle in accessing our femininity because we are too focused on trying to take on this masculine role so we can accomplish all the big goals we’ve set out for ourselves. We end up spending a lot of time in the in-between playing both parts or being criticized for being too strong, dominant and the one who “wears the pants” in relationships.
But who’s to say we can’t have it all – we can, but not at the cost of your own femininity.
Excerpt:
When aiming to become more feminine, there are two directions we tend to consider. Either we are encouraged to pack on the make-up and pretend to be someone we are not, or we are told to tap into our inner goddess and try to be in a constant state of bliss. Let’s face it. Neither is really attainable for the average woman with a hectic schedule. As a result, most of us end up doing nothing to change our ways.
Personally, too much “girly stuff” can be annoying, but at the same time I feel drained if I spend too much time in a more masculine role, say in the workplace.
So, where is the balance?
Balance comes in comprehending that a flirty life is more fun, and that a lighthearted approach can be the perfect remedy for fading femininity. As free-spirited, flirtatious women, we need to make a commitment to living this way everyday. It begins with finding what really inspires you and then committing to feeding that passion, regardless of what society or opinions dictate.
Oo la la, shall I say more?
The Art of Living a Flirtatious Life came out on May 27, 2010 – celebrating some of our favourite ladies – the girls of Sex and the City. Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes, we’re coming for you!
Interview with YourDateCoach:
- What was your inspiration to writing “The Art of Living a Flirtatious Life”?I started to see a trend in the women I was either date coaching or who were coming to my single’s events. With all respect to these ladies, they were taking themselves far too seriously and were coming across as having a heavy energy about them. They didn’t know they were doing it and frankly, I know that even I had unknowingly been this way in prior dating years. When I would speak to men about this observation, they expressed this is one of the main reasons they find themselves frustrated with women. They said too many women are acting like men on dates or in relationships. I saw this as a major issue I needed to address and that the perfect remedy would be to inspire women to live a more flirtatious life.
- How do you think this book will change the way women feel, think and live their life?I know it will have a tremendous affect on their lives. So many women I have heard from so far are already reaping the benefits of a more flirtatious life. It is fun to connect with our flirty, feminine side and not only is it a benefit to ourselves, it is a benefit to those around us because we just glow!
- The book talks a lot of finding femininity in your everyday life and having role models to look up to. Who are your role models and why? When I think of true femininity, I think of women in history such as the jazz singer Julie London or Audrey Hepburn. As far as modern-day women, I mention several in the book, including Sophia Loren and I also draw from my family tree. These women take time to nurture their femininity and the results are more fulfilling personal relationships and lives.
- How is this book different from the others in your series, Speed Dating Secrets Revealed and upcoming titles The Online Dating Guide for Men & Women, A Woman’s Guide to Successfully Dating Men, and A Man’s Guide to Successfully Dating Women? This particular book is for ALL women, regardless of being single or in a relationship. All women can relate to it, whether they are a career woman, a stay-at-home mom, a student or even retired.
- If you can leave one message to all the women out there, what would it be?Living a flirtatious life is about owning your femininity. It is about seeking opportunities on a daily basis to enjoy yourself – whether it’s 10 minutes or 2 hours. We all deserve this and a world in which more women are celebrating their femininity is ultimately a more peaceful world.
